The Chinese Government Raised Tariffs On 5,140 U.S. Imports

On May 9, 2019, the us government announced that from May 10, 2019, the tariff rate of $200 billion of goods imported from China would be increased from 10% to 25%.

The above measures by the us side have led to the escalation of economic and trade frictions between China and the us. They go against the consensus reached by the two sides on settling trade differences through consultation, harm the interests of both sides and do not meet the common expectation of the international community.




In accordance with the foreign trade law of the People's Republic of China, the regulations of the People's Republic of China on import and export tariffs, and other laws and regulations as well as the basic principles of international law, the tariff commission of the state council has decided to raise the tariff rate on some imported goods originating in the United States from 0 a.m. on June 1, 2019.

The relevant matters are hereby announced as follows:




One, to the state council tariff commission on native to about $60 billion in imports implemented tariffs announcement (tax committee announcement [2018] no. 8) in the part of the goods, raise tariffs rates, according to the state council tariff commission on part of the native to the United States imports (the second) announcement of tariffs (taxes committee announcement [2018] no. 6) rate of implementation of the announcement.

Namely, an additional tariff of 25% will be imposed on the 2,493 items listed in annex 1;

An additional 20 per cent tariff will be imposed on the 1,078 items listed in annex 2;

An additional 10 per cent tariff will be imposed on the 974 items listed in annex 3.

An additional tariff of 5 per cent will apply to the 595 items listed in annex 4.


Ii. Other matters shall be implemented in accordance with announcement [2018] no.6 of the tax commission.
